A detailed instruction set so you can conduct forensic collections using iTunes on a PC or Mac and upload it to Percipient.
- 1. Connect your device to your computer. On a Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15. open Finder. On a Mac with macOS Mojave 10.14 or earlier, or on a PC open iTunes. If you are using macOS Mojave 10.14 or earlier, or on a PC and do not have iTunes on your computer you can download it from here:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201352#windows - Once your phone has been connected to your computer you may receive a message on your phone asking for your device passcode or to Trust This Computer. Follow the onscreen steps to continue
- Locate your device on your computer
- Under the Backups section select This Computer and also select Encrypt local backup
- A pop-up will then appear asking you to create a password.
PLEASE USE: P@ssword1234! - Your phone will then ask you to input your screen lock password for your phone to enable the iPhone backup encryption and kick off the backup
- If your backup does not start automatically click the Back Up Now button in the center of the window to start the backup
- Once the backup is complete locate the backup created on your computer. Usually, this is found under one of the following paths
- PC PATH
- Windows (C:) \ Users \ (your username) \ Apple \ MobileSync \ Backup
- MAC PATH
- Users \ (your username) \ Library \ Application Support \ MobileSync \ Backup
- PC PATH
- Once you located the Backups zip the main folder in a zip file by right-clicking on the folder and using the program 7zip or Compress by using the send option as shown here
The final step is to transfer the zip file you created in the previous step to Percipient. You should have received an invite via email to the Percipient Client Portal to upload large files. This email would have come from "Percipient". - Create your login credentials or if you already have login credentials to the Percipient Client Portal you can log in using this URL: https://dch.percipient.co/login
