How to Backup from the iCloud (iPhones/iPad/iPod)

Backing up your data to the iCloud on an Apple iPhone, iPad, or iPod is a simple process in your settings.

Step 1: Provide Apps Access to iCloud

On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch turn on all applicable apps to use iCloud.

  1. Go to settings
  2. Tap [your name]
  3. Tap iCloud
  4. Turn on Messages and all additional apps relevant to your matter

 

Step 2: Backup Data to iCloud

Note: If you have more than 5 GB of data on your device you will need to purchase more data storage space before proceeding.

Skip to the bottom to view how to get more storage space. 

  1. Connect your device to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Go to Settings > [your name], and tap iCloud
  3. Tap iCloud Backup
  4. Tap Back Up Now. Stay connected to your Wi-Fi network until the process completes

You can check the progress and confirm the backup completed. Go to Settings> [your name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup. Under Back Up Now, you'll see the date and time of your last backup. 

 

Increase iCloud Storage Size

If your device has more than 5 GB of data you will need to upgrade your storage plan to one of the below: 

 50GB: $0.99 per month

200GB: $2.99 per month

   2TB: $9.99 per month

 

  1. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Storage or iCloud Storage
  2. Tap Buy More Storage or Change Storage Plan
  3. Choose a plan
  4. Tap Buy and follow the onscreen instructions
